Researches

Weidong Zhang received the B.S. degree in automation and Ph.D. degree in control science and engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, China, in 1996 and 2004, respectively. Professor Weidong Zhang is the chief directorof National Center for Materials Service SafetyUnder Construction, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, China. His research interest include multi-sensors monitoring, intelligent control, system reliability and safety assessment, and he has been engaged in the application on high speed train key component, high accuracy motorized spindle, electric car, and multi-levels system service safety assessment. He has presided more than 10 projects from NSC, 863 Plan, etc. and won the third prize of science and technology progress awards of Beijing. He has published more than 50 papers and holds 8 patents. Dr. Zhang is a member of INFORMS, TMS and Chinese Society for Metals ( CSM).

l  Main Contributions

- System Service Safety and Life Prediction: For the problem of complex system service safety assessment, a cross-scale and multi-level system service safety assessment method has been proposed, which has been applied in high speed train gearbox reliability analysis, motorized spindle precision life prediction, etc.

Taking high-speed train gear box material A356 as the research object, the acoustic emission instrument was used to realize non-destructive and real-time online monitoring, and the research on tensile damage identification and life prediction was carried out.

The Improving Method of Accuracy Life for High Precision Motorized Spindle: Aiming at the main reasons that affect the accuracy life of the high precision motorized spindle, the stream of variation theory was combined with the axial accuracy compensation model and radial precision monitoring of the service link to solve the problems of production assembly control and service process control, and improved the service life of the electric spindle.

- Intelligent Control

Servo motor control: For drive problem of electric vehicles and electric moped, an ac asynchronous motor torque servo control method has been proposed, which has been applied in electric vehicle drive, electric moped and auto electric power steering system.

Vehicle control: The algorithm achieves the following control of the vehicle while combining the safety, comfort and economy of the vehicle. The corresponding drive control strategy is formulated for different control modes, which greatly improves the road capacity.

 - Machine vision: The algorithm realized the real-time detection of lanes, pedestrians and traffic signs by vehicles.
